2016

Harvey Tweats achieves a breakthrough, successfully breeding the first lizards outdoors in captivity, marking the initial spark of Celtic Rewilding's journey.

2019

Tom Whitehurst joins the visionary endeavour, bringing his passion for ecological restoration to enhance the company's impact.

2020

A pivotal year as Celtic Rewilding officially forms, laying the groundwork for its mission to restore ecosystems and revive the natural world.

2021

The acquisition of land for the breeding facility sets the stage for a dedicated space to nurture and propagate biodiversity.

2021

International press coverage and the welcoming of the first rewilding clients propel Celtic Rewilding into the spotlight, showcasing its commitment to global nature restoration.

2022

Celtic Rewilding celebrates a major achievement as its impact expands, restoring landscapes across 10,000 acres. In 2022, we successfully reintroduced water voles to Trentham and developed three estate management plans, contributing to the creation of 24 ponds nationwide.

2023

In 2023, Celtic Rewilding accomplished several significant milestones,z

including the reintroduction of beavers at both Trentham Estate and Wild Wrendale. Additionally, we successfully reintroduced sand lizards at Knepp, marking a pivotal moment in our conservation efforts. These achievements were accompanied by the expansion of our impact to encompass 15,000 acres of restored landscapes.

Harvey Tweats

Director

Meet Harvey Tweats, a passionate conservationist and the Director of Celtic Rewilding. Harvey’s journey began during a holiday in East Devon, where an encounter with Ranger Ed who dealt with Beavers, sparked his deep love for nature. 

Harvey embarked on an internship focused on monitoring these creatures, gaining insights into their behaviours. Concurrently, he demonstrated his commitment by breeding frogs in his garden, showcasing hands-on biodiversity conservation.

As the Director of Celtic Rewilding, Harvey brings not just knowledge and experience but an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the natural world. His journey exemplifies the transformative power of passion and dedication in conservation.
